Before booking, please read this information:
To secure your booking, full payment for your first night's accommodation will be taken now upon booking. Any remaining nights' payments will be due upon check-in. Usually, you can pay by cash or card (all standard card types accepted, including AmEx) but IN 2021 WE WILL ONLY BE ACCEPTING CARD PAYMENTS.
 

COVID conditions for 2021 bookings

The following changes will be in place during these unusual times, to safeguard both our guests and our staff:

1. We will not be able to accept cash payments - only cards.

2. WE WILL NOT BE OFFERING BREAKFAST. There is a supermarket a 5-minute walk from the hostel. 

3. Dormitories may only be booked by private groups - individual beds cannot be booked at this time.

4. All our bathrooms are usually shared, but at the moment we are assigning one bathroom per booking/bubble. We will continue to do this until we feel it is safe to return to shared bathrooms.

5. The guest kitchen will most likely NOT be open, but there are restaurants and takeaways within walking distance. There is also a good supermarket open till 10pm, plus we also have an outside barbecue and picnic area which you are welcome to use - please bring your own charcoal. There will be a kettle and tea/coffee facilities available for every booking.

6. We will have a maximum of 20 people in the building at any one time (our usual capacity is 45).

7. Our large bar area is available for dining, relaxing and also for drinks (again, card payments only). It is big enough for all 20 guests to sit socially distanced (assuming some are in pairs and groups).

Please also note that we all have a responsibility to act in a way that safeguards those around us during these unusual times - for this reason, we would ask that anyone displaying any potential symptoms of covid must please contact us and cancel your stay. Also note that if we have concerns about any guest's health, we reserve the right to ask them to leave the property for the safety of our other guests and our staff.

The only public transport to Drumnadrochit is bus or taxi. We recommend www.travelinescotland.com for bus information. *Please note that during covid there is a reduced 'Sunday bus service' running, so leave yourself lots of time to get to the hostel and do not plan to get a bus in the evening as there may not be one. We do not yet know when the service will return to normal.
 
Room types
We offer shared dorm beds in 6/7-bed rooms (not in 2021). We also have private rooms (double, twin, and family rooms for 4 and 5 people).
 
All of our rooms have shared bathrooms. *Not during covid - see covid conditions above.*
 
Please note that we do not allow children under 16 years old in shared dorm accommodation unless your group books out a full room.
 
Pets are permitted in certain rooms (excluding all shared dorms) - please contact us directly (01456 450 807 / info@lochness-backpackers.com) to discuss before booking. A pet supplement of £5 per pet is payable on arrival.
 
Services
Breakfast is not included in the bed price but you can book a continental buffet breakfast on arrival for £3.50pp. (Not available in 2021.)
 
All bed linen is provided. Towels are available to rent for £1. 
 
As we are a licensed premises, ONLY ALCOHOL PURCHASED ON THE PREMISES CAN BE CONSUMED in the public areas of the hostel. Our residents-only bar offers a wide range of 50+ exclusively Scottish beers and 20+ Scottish whiskies so there's lots to choose from!
 
We reserve the right to take a £50 charge if mattresses or other items are soiled. Adequate payment will also be taken if property is damaged. Photographic evidence will be provided upon request.
 
Cancellation policy
 
Please be aware that once you provide your confirmation you are entering into a contract for provision of accommodation.
 
We have a 48-HOUR cancellation policy. This means we will only accept cancellation up to 48HRS prior to the date of arrival. Beyond this point you will be charged 100% of your first night's accommodation.
 
Group bookings (of over 6 people) will be charged for 100% of entire booking if notice of cancellation is not given one week in advance.
